CHRISTHAS CHECKS GOING OUT EARLIER Will Be Mailed by Banks on or Abont December 1 Christmas Club depositors will re- ceive thelr checks much earlier this | vear than in former years, according the three banking houses in this clty which handle the Christinas Club savings. The checks will be malled out so that depositors will receive them on or around December 1 while in former years it was custom- ary to have tho checks reach their | owners around the 10th of the month, The three banks which have Christmas Clubs are the New Brit- ain National bank, the Commercial T'rust Co., and the New Britaln Trust Co. Detailed figures on the amount of | money deposited in Christmas Clubs this year is not yet avallable L there i another month in which payments on them are to be made, but all the banks report that the | amount saved through this means is about the same as it was last year. The Commerclal Trust Co. reports that there are about 5,000 depositors in the Christmas Club department while the amount of money to be represented In the checks to be mail- ad out will be about the same a was last year. The New Britain Na- tional bank reports that the amount invested in the clubs in that depart- ment will be approximately $100,000 | which is a slight variation from last vear's total while the New Britain Trust Co. reports that the amount there will see hardly any change. MISS CARLSON SHOWERED A miscellaneous shower was held last evening in honor of Miss Louise Carlson at the home of Miss Emily | Helm, 43 Woodland street. The home was prettily decorated in autumn colors. About 45 guests were present trom Hartford, Bristol | and this city A mock marriage was performed with Miss Katherine Basse acting as minister, Miss Rose Yacobellis bride and Miss Allee Morsaw groom. Miss Nellie Helm played the wedding march. A buffet lunch was served. Carlson was the reciplent of heautiful gifts. She will become the bride of Paul Z. Zubroski on No- vember 18, as RS HOME.
