Kelly of the seminarians and Salmon engag- ¢d in a pitching duel and both came out with honors about even. New RBritain was able to send out only two hits off Kelly.*Salmon allowed five hits, but Kelly walked four and fanned eight while Salmon walked only two and struck out ten of the seminary batters. Both plitchers were in rare form and had the bat- ters at their mercy. 'The locals were never more bril~ llant tMan they were in the defeat of Saturday and the 1925 season was closed in a hlaze of glory. Haber, Neipp, Darrow, Belser and Conlin, playing their last game for their alma mater, shone throughout the contest and ended their high school days fizhting hard for the red and gold.” Haber made five brilliant catches in left field while Neipp and Conlin sent out two hits for the team. It was a fitting close to the carecrs of the boys. In the third inning, the seminar- tans through a cleverly executed squeeze play, scored two runs. The bases were filled and although the bunt was turned inte a double play, the damage had been done. In the ninth inning, a heart breaking session hroke for the locals. With a man on second and third, Claire sent out what looked ke a sure bingle for New Britain. Corrigan raced in from degp center and made a wonderful catch off his ghoestrings. This robbed the locals of a tie and ended the game. Saturday's loss was no disgrace for the local team. The players in- dividually shone and the High school fans look with regret and sorrow at the passing of Darrow, Neipp, Haber, Belser and Conlin. These were among the greatest of the High school athletes and the best wishes of the school will be with them in their future days. To show the closeness of the game the local infield had only two as- sists and seven put outs. Belser pad no put outs or assists while (laire had only one put out and no assists. The St. Thomas' outfield had only four putouts. The summary:- NEW BRITAI} A.B. R. The Spartans were always a great drawing card in this city and no doubt would draw well it the two teams should meet.
