Willimantle, Conn., April §.—Stan- ley A. Motyk, of Pawtucket, R. L, reported at police headquarters here last night with the claim that he was the owner of the auto seized by county and stato police officers after & seven mile chase in North Coven- try Thureday. The machine at that time was carrying iiquor and the driver gave his name as Jerome J. Hurley of New York city. He is now in the county jail in Brooklyn under bonds of $2,500. Motyk produced a bill of sale showing ownership of the car and told the police that early last week he gave his brother permission to use the machine. The brother had told him, he said, that he had let a girl friend take the car. The girl,| with lighting devices sufficient to| o b AR M okl AR ALLPUBLIGAUTOS TOINSURE PATRONS {Enlarged Law Would Inclnde Ml Livery Vehicles Hartford, April 6.—One of the most effeative changes which will ba incorporated in the general motor vehicle act, which has been set for a hearing before the leglsiative come mittea on roads, bridges and rivers on Tuesday, at 1:30 p. m., fs a pro- vision which will require every own- er of a public service motor vehicle to insure its passengers. The pres- ent law requires jitney owners to take out such insurance while the new use will extend the require- ment to every form of motor vehi- | cle carrying passengers for hire, | such taxicabs and liveries. The departmént yesterday outlin- #d the important changes which are included in the bill by amendment. Under a provision in thebill every license holder wiil be required to notify the department of change of address. Previously this clause ap- plied only to operators of public service motor vehicles, but in the event of passage of a bill requiring fnsurance of vehicles and passengers, it will be necessary to keep in close touch with every driver. Penalty for Speeding While the reckless driving section of the present laws will remain the same, a subdivision has been added providing a penaity for “speeding.” The speeding clause {¥ to provide court's opportunity to put a charge against persons guilty of operating at to high & rate of speed, but who otherwiss have done no damage. Any person, under the provision, may be charged efther with reckless driving or speeding but not both. new clause which will compel oper- ators to show licenses whenever re- quested by an officer, The present law requires they be shown only in particular circumstances, No Stickers Allowed Bo-called stickers on wind-shields and rear windows, against which there has been much opposition from both automobile clubs and in- dividuals, will be prohibited by the bill in all cases where there is dan- ger of Interfering with vision. STANDARD BOXES FOR FARM PRODUCE Containers and Grades Must Be Uniform After May 1 Hartford, April 6.—To standard measures for the sale of farm produce made necessary by the lack of uniformity in containers and methods of bunching vegetables, the state broad of agriculture has issued @ rullng, effective May 1, 1925, specifying the size which shall be used for box measurement and the manner for grading farm pro- duce sold by the bunch. Professor Stroemgren says the comet 1s comparatively light and strong, of the eighth dimension and is situated in the constellation of Pegasus. * According to the royal observatory at Greenwich the position of the new comet on Sunday was right ascension 22 hours 27 minutes, north declina- tion 16 degrees 38 minutes. Its dally motion, the observatory states, is one degree north. The comet, which is said to rise between .one and two o’'clock in the morning, is not visible to the naked eye. .
