Death below in the falls was cor- tain, The deer, taking advantage of the current which eddied the floe within 10 feet of the shore, backed away to the edge of the fce and leaped safely ashore—just in time to be killed by a passing train. The rallroad track skirts the edge of the stream at this point. The frantic animal, unable to halt after jumping ashore, fell directly in®front |of the locomotive’ and was hurled back into the river dead, A dozen or more decr of the Gla- cier Park herd were shot by hunt- |ers this winter when they wandered |outslde the limits of the game pre- serve but this is the first one report- |ed killed by a train in several ‘n\omh!.
