Paris, Aug. 23.—The chief and, in fact, the only serious occupation these days of Secretary of the Treasury Mellon of the United States is the task of sitting daily for a portrait which the British artist, Sir William Orpen, is painting of him in his Paris studio. The rest of Mr. Mellon's time is spent in lunching or dining with his daughter and in Parisian sightsceins. He has seen no French fimance de- partment officials and doee not in- tend allowing business to interfere with his rest or with Sir William's work.
