Funds obtained by the conference organization will be used in carrying its fight for Senator La Follette into all sections of the country. They also will be made available for use by Representative John M. Nelson of Wisconsin, campaign manager for Mr. La Follette, who has established headquarters in Chicago. Conference officials emphasized yesterday that they intend to work hand-in-hand with the organization worked out by Mr. Nelson, and will have offices adjoining his in Chicago to facilitate interchange of support. Word has been sent to Mr. Nelson that members of the national com- mittes would like to have him here for their meeting the last of the week, It is their plan to have him take part in their discussions in or- der to acquaint him with their plans and, in turn, to learn what prelim- inary. work has been accomplished by him and his assistants. Committee to Greet La Follette, ‘While Senator La Follette is not expected to take part in any of the sessions, it 18 sald the entire com- mittee probably will call upon him in a body to exchange greetings. The senator again was at his office at the capitol for a short time today. He conferred with several friends, discussing campaign matters and the aclection of a running mate. It was said authoritatively that six or more men are acceptable to Mr. La Fol- lette for second place, and that he is willing to leave the selection to the committee. No &slection will be an- nounced, it was sald, until it is known definitely that the man named will accept. According to official figures made tublie today at the La Follette head- quarters, the various groups that wera representéd in the Cleveland convention, which nominated the senater, spoke directly for 12,200,000 men and women voters.
