In several places a skeleton serviee is being maintained ,argely through the employment of men who have taken .the places of the strikers. The province of Ontario is the hardest hit in the Dominion. In most cities and towns in this province the strlke has disrupted business. The railway mail clerks last night joined the striking Ontario postmen and of- clerks, completing the tie-up. Montreal also was hard hit. Hamil- ton workers have returned to their posts while most of the Oftawa pos- | tal employes did not go out. It is helieved that the strike order was not abeyed by workers in British Colum- bia and in the Prairie and Maritime provinees .
