There was a time when Lenten observers were more strictly adhered to but nowadaye entertainments of one sort or another extend throughout the Lenten season, To be quite sure a number of the festivitios have been given with the purpose of siding phil- anthropic or charitable institutions. Then, too, a number of the boarding schools, preparatory schools and col- leges have closed bringing the young- er folk to town and with them of course gaiety, gaicty which for the next dozen weeks will rule the social world. Beginning tonight with the dinner dance at the Shuttle Meadow club and the Governor's Ball at the | State Armory on Easter Monday, April 21st—the A.
