GERMAN WEALTH IN UNEXPECTED PLACES Experts Believed to Have Up- covered Unsuspected Resources BY The Associated Prems, Paris, April 9.—That the first ex- pert committea found resources in Germany previously unsuspected in most quarters excepting I'rance, is the § conclusion drawn by efficial circles from the report headed to the repar- ation commission by Brigadier-Gener- al Dawes today, The habitual spokesman for the for- eign office was chary of comment, saylng it was for the reparation com- mission to consider the report and |5 refer the same to the various govern- ments if it saw fit; untll then the gov- ernments would have nothing to do in the matter, The summary of the report, which is a1 that bas been thus far d by’the staff at the Quai D'Ors wishes a basis for fresh neg ‘regarding reparations, they think, but they indicate decided tendency to resist the idca incorporated in the experts’ report that their suggestions must be taken as a whole or rejected. There some good suggestions in the findings, it is admitted, but scveral governments are interested, an ur- ance of their acceptance of all the features of the plan is lacking. On the whole the reception of the report is much cooler than the optimism shown around the forelzn office dur- ing the last few weeks would have in- dicated. 1t is intimated that there wonld have been more enthusiasm for the experts’ fAindings had they devoted @ some thought to ways of making th compliance of Ger y - with the | ¥ terms of eventual scttlement more cerfain, As the recommendati stand, it is remarked, the only m antee France would have would be the presence of her troops in the Ruhr On this point a controversy with Ramsay MasDonald is anticipated, Ime British premier is understood here to be flatly opposed to the con tinued presenee of 1roops on the oth- er side of the Ruine, and lahorious negotlations are expreted before a final plan of seftlement can ba built | on the foundation by the experts, WHEELER INDIGTED, DENIES ANY GUILT tContinned from First Page) Montana to demand an early trial He deelded Inter, however, arter con- ferences with associates, to tuke pre. liminary steps in meeting the eharges in the District of Columbia and con- tinue his work with the investigating committen, The indictment, he rted, “shows that even with Daugl out of of- fee his mai‘gn influence still moves Nis old pasns” and presenis o vinelng evidence,” that the investi- gution shonld continue, Tesnes Nigned Deia) Great I'alle, Mont, April %.—Gor- Aon Campbell, geoloist and oil o wy, Indicted yosterday with elur, United States sen ninently Daugherty a8 0 signod wta 1z that he ever had paid | i cler any s of money to | . nt of! the ba 1 the sepator, ou # charge of us 1aud that 1 paid Senator any other sum to ernmont permits is absol utely falee and bas Campbell waid, My dea s with Senat Wheelar ha yeen tegitimat and above board and there is nothing of uny kind or character that can i any manner roflect pim. ) have | no fear as to 1he outeoms of 1his |, ease or any ofher that may be fled Blames Standard 04 My, Campbell attributed his indict ment to the Standard Ol company “It is well for people 1o b wind,” his statement said, “the hor rible disclosures that have hoen mad racently before the oil committe Washington.
