SN There have been no really large parties this week but everyone is looking forward to the Bal Masque which is to take place next Wednes- day cvening at the Shuttle Meadow club. This is always one of the gayest affairs of the scason and is preceded by any number of small dinner parties as well as several| large ones, Interest this wWeek centered more or less in the club ecvents in town. | On Tuesday, the Woman's club held its regular meeting and as usual | drew a large attendance. Wednes- day evening, Rev. 8. Parkes Cadman, D.D.,, spoke to the members of the McAll association and their guests, Vriday, Esther Stanley chapter, D, A R, held a delightful meeting when Mrs. Winthrop P. Tryon of New York city spoke, her subject be- ing, “Why New Britain Should Have Written a History.” The South church bazaar or “Coming Events Cast Their Shadows Before,” which was held Tucsday and Wednesday at «ne South church under the direction of Mrs. Rufus Hemenway of course attracted many and has established itself an annual affair. . s e Mrs, Rufus Hemenway of Lexington strect had charge of the bazaar which was held at the South church on Tuesday and Wednesday of this weck, The affair which was more or less of a buriesque on the new Elihu Burritt Hotel was unusually distine- i d attractive.
