The princess was divorced by her husband, and Captain von Mattasich lost his commission in the Austro- Hungarian army. Following the war money became, scarce, and the lovers were compelled to move from their palatial residence in Vienna to a small village, The princess disputed the will of her father, who left everything to his morganatic wife, the Baroness Vaughan, but she lost the suit. Then she appealed to her sister, the Prin- cess Stephania Lonyay, former Crown Princess of Austria Princess Stephanie offered to al- low Louise, who is now 64 vears old, to spend the rest of her life at the beautiful castle of Orosziar, in Hun- gary, on condition that she leave vdn Mattasich. The offer was accepted, and friends now have found another home vr the penniless captain. AUTO NUMBERS MANY IN STATE Exceed That of Five Other Sta{es Combined Connecticut's automobile registra- tion for the first six months of this year exceeded the combined registra- tion of five other states in the coun- try by over 22,000, according to fighres {ssued by the motor vehicle depart- ment. On July 1st there were 169,835 mo- tor vehicles of all classes in the Nut- meg state, while Vermont, New Hamp- shire, Nevada, New Mexico and Del- aware had a total combined registra- tion of 157,206 cars. A New England comparison shows Connecticut with over 7,000 more automobiles than Rhode Tsland, New Hampshire and Vermont, whose total for the period was 162,254, The 169,835 figure for Connecticut is an increase of 35,000 over the July 1, 1922, figure of 134,200. Unless there is some improbable lapse in the purchasing of new automobiles, 200,- 000 motor vehicles undoubtedly will have been registered in Connecticut by the end of the year. A figure recently made public by the “Automotive Industries” shows that 13,048,128 automobiles were reg- {steréd in the United States in the six months ended July 1. has approximately one-eightieth of this total.
