Professor Odell Bhepard of Trinity college gave a very interesting talk on “Changing«Heroines.” Robert, Hamil- ton of Farmington delighted the gueésts by singing several songs. The character of the discriminating audi- ence was such as to especlally appre- clate the artistio finish and musical understanding of the singer. Mrs, Btanley ‘served afternoon tea to her guests in the dining room of her home which is unusually unique and at- tractively decorated, Mrs, E. B, Eddy and Mrs. Fortis Allls presided at the charming table which was arranged with a huge boquet of spring flowers Particularly appropriate was the poem which Miss Sally Humason, daughter of Mrs. Harrls Humason of Vine street wrote to Mrs. Stanley, “FOR A NEW HOME" The peace which. les 1in hilisides bringeth quiet, The laughter of the brook song bringeth cheer, The young winds bear soft messages of comfort From out the woodland near. The central figure, Miss Dilling, gowned in white georgette crepe trimmed with pearls, adding grace and charm of personality to her musical skill, gave to the tones of her golden harp the background needed to bring full force to her playing. The stage setting of bougainvilleas, marguerites, palms and ferns, generously contributed to the cause of the children of France by thé Welch Floral 8hop, was par- ticularly appropriate, and no more fitting tangible expression of the pleasure glven by the performers could have been chosen than the two huge bouquets of sweet peas, the gifts of the Misses Whittlesey, presented to the musiclans at the end of their first number, by Miss Marguerite Eddy. The decided, inpelling rhythm of the “Fantasie,” Dubols, in the playing of which Miss Parker's sympathetic accompaniment added to the effec- tiveness of Miss Dilling's interpreta- tlon, caught the audience from the first sparkling notes and was a happy selection to open the evening's pleas- ure. Bach-S8t. S8aens’ “Gavotte,” which Miss Dilling played as the first num- ber of her first solo group, proved a good vehicle for the display of her Miss Lois Phelps, daughter of Mr, and Mra Burton H.
