(By Associated Press).—The Evening News today printed a dispatch from Dublin saying | it was rumored Erskine Childers and eight other unnamed men had been | executed. Shortly afterward, how- | ever, it received another dispatch | from the Irish capital stating that the | rumor regardjng Childers had been officially. denied. Permission to serve a writ of ha- beas corpus on- President Cosgrave of the Rolls O'Conner to Childers' | counsel but the latter upon entering | the provisional government offices were told that Mr. Cosgrave could not see anyone on public building at that time. An effort to reach the president on the telephone brought a similar reply and the lawyers there- upon left. It is understood the mas- ter of the rolls is holding a special sitting this afternoon on habeas corpus proceedings concerning eight | prisoners including Childers, Mean- | while there are persistent rumors that the latter was executed this morning. | ——e | Finds $250 On Charges Of Contempt of Court Boston, Nov, 20.—~The superior court today fined Walter G. Conway of New York, $250 for contempt of court as a result of his action in writ- | ing letters to members of the special grand jury which was probing the af- fairs of the defunot Hanover Trust Co.
