U, A, M, hall on Hungerford Court this noon, Americanization Director James O'Brien told the club members that he believed this organization should get behind a civic movement in New Britain and do something that would be of a great benefit to the clty. He suggested that a committee be appointed to discuss the advisabhility of the Lions' club taking an active Interest in the erection of a perma- nent Court of Honor at Walnut Hill park. Mr. O'Brien sald that the city officials were not pushing the project as much as they should and he thought that the club should get be- hind the movement and see to it that 4 permanent memorial was erected in place of the temporary wooden structures that now grace the road of the entrance into the park from West Main street, William C. French agreed with Mr. O'Brien, and upon his motion Presi- dent W. W. Bullen was authorized to appoint a committee to discuss the possibilities that can be considered in New Britain and to report at a later meeting. Guests Are Present. Harold Noles of the Simons corpor- ation of Hartford was a guest at the luncheon this noon, and when called upon to speak he suggested that the New Britain Lions' club hold a joint outing, gathering or meeting with the Rotary club and any other civie or- | ganization for the purpose of estab- lishing a friendly feeling between the various societies, The members gathered at the O, U A. M. hall at 12:15 o'clock, and dur- ing the course of the dinner were en- tertained by John Harrigan, who is appearing at the Fox theater. Mr, Harrigan has appeared at many Lions, Rotary and Kiwanis gatherings and his comlic stories were well ap- plauded. FROST TONIGHT Weather Bureau Sends Out Advance Warning of Cooler Weather to Be Expected This Evening, New Haven, Sept. 26.—For Connec- ticut: Fair tonight and Wednesday: frost tonight; gentle variable winds. Conditions: Pleasant weather pre- vails this morning in all districts ex- cept on the south Atlantic and north Pacific coasts. The pressure is high from Towa eastward to Massachusetts, The temperature has fallen during the last 24 hours in the northern districts east of the Mississippi river. Frosts were reported from the Lake region and New England. Northfield, Vt., re- ported a temperature of 26, Conditions favor for this vicinity fair and continued cool tonight fol- lowed by slowly rising temperature on Wednesday. FREED OF MANSLAUGHTER T 2 Frederick Nee, Driver of Truck Which Overturned and Killed Three, Given Freedom. Stamford, Sept. 26.—Frederick S. Nee, driver of an automobile truck which was overturned in a swamp on the Long Ridge road, on September 10, was freed in police court today on a complaint charging manslaughter | because of three deaths in the acci- dent Prosecuting Attorney Matthew E. Kenealy recommended that the complaint be nolled, and this was done. The coroner had found there had been no eriminal carelessness in the handling of the truck, and Mr. Kenealy reviewed the circumstances in support of his recommendation, which Judge Samuel Young accepted Stromboli Volcano Gets Frisky and Shoots Lava Rome, Sept. 26.—The Stromboll volcano on the island of that name off the coast of Sicily has resumed activ- ity. emitting ashes and lava, accom- panied by terrific explosions.
