Hallor- an and Alderman Angelo Paonessa at a meeting of the Hardware Clty Dem- ocratic club, and their expressed pledges of support to the successful candidate at the primaries. ‘Will Support Rival. This was the first appearance of Mr. Halloran at the club meetings and a large gathering was present to hear him. He spoke of the talk that has been rampant about the city of the unfriendly feeling which has existed between himself and Alderman Paors essa since the announcements of their candidacles, He said that he wanted to go on record as saying that in case the democratic party saw fit to choose Mr. Paonessa as its standard bearer in place of himself, he pledged him- self and all his friends to the support of the alderman and to the party. He urged the men present to forget per- sonal feelings and to work in harmony for the success of the democratic party at the polls. Paonessa Speaks. He was followed by Mr. Paonessa and he reiterated the sentiments of Mr. Halloran, saying that there has been and there will be in the future the warimest feeling of friendship be- tween himself and the ex-mayor. He stated that he was pledged to the democratic party and would promise the support of his friends to Mr. Hal- loran if he was nominated. The remarks of both men were re- ceived with applause and with the knowledge that the leaders of both factions have pledged their support to the other in case either ong was defeated, leaders of the Jeffersohians are resting easy from the fear that a serious split would occur in the par- ty, and they feel sure that the party will present a solid front at the polls. Other Speakers. Other speakers on the program were Philip McIntyre, William Earls, Martin Kelley and P. S. McMahon. They spoke on city and state affairs and their remarks were well received. A pleasing entertainment was ren- dered by members present ard re- freshments were served. The next meeting will be held Wednesday of next week. ‘Y, M. PLANS BIG BIBLE CLASS MEET .
