NEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, FRIDAY, JANUARY 6, 192z LENINE IS SOME AMERICAN NOW Likes to Pose for Cameras and Joke About U. §. ~Nikolal Lenine, the Russian premier, likes not only to display his knowledge of Amerlean affairs but to joke Amerlcan visitors about them, says Parley P, Christen- sen, of Chicago, the TFarmer-lLabor party's candidate for president last year, Mr, Cheistensen had two in- terviews with Lenine while in Mos- cow for a month, When the American nine's office In the IKremelin and BURCH PEARS GALLOWS started to identify himself, Lenine in- | terrupted him, Christensen sald, “Oh, I know ahout you, You and | Mr, Cox were the ‘also candidates) " | | Mr, Christensen, at Lenine's | orbinson, allenist, quest, posed with him for amination hy the pictures in the street in front of the 5 4 | has been resumed for the trinl of Ar ,1;‘ Kremelin, where o great erowd soon | (% "0 S Gt the mur- | B9 gathered, of J. The first, “The Copper Pot,” has n cast of twelve and is in one act and two scenes, The place of the action {8 Arabia, at the present time, Triefly the plot of the play is: Abdallah, @ poor, but gencrous man, recelves two strangers as guests at his house, He wishes to give them a good dinner, but he has no copper pot large enough in which to cook their meal. He asks all his friends, but they are no better off than he and | B8 . can not comply with his wishes, Rasid, a rich, but avaricious man, has a large copper pot and the friends of Abdallah persuade him to ask Rasid for the use of it. Rasid, being very miserly, does not want to lend it, but he finally agrees to lend the kettle, provided that it is returned at dawn, ‘Wishing to punish Rasid for his sting- iness, Abdallah decides to play a trick on the unfriendly man, Accordingly, the next morning when the pot is re- turned, Abdallah says that in the night a little pot was horn to the large one. Rasid is overjoyed. He prom- &es to lend the large copper pot to Abdallah any time that it may be needed. In the next scene, Rasid comes back from a journey and finds that Abdal- lahr has borrowed the pot again, Ab- dallah is stricken with griet and Rasld finds out that the large pot has died, at least that is Abdallah's story. Rasld does not believe such a foolish tale and he takes the case to Amin, the judge. Amin asks as his fee two choice lambs and a small copper pot. He hears both sides of the story and | then decides that if a “copper pot can bear a child it is mortal. Therefore it can dle.”” Rasid did not believe the | story told by Abdallah about the birth of a small pot, but he thought that he could enrich himself at the expense of the poor man. The conclusion of the play, showing Rasid ountwitted, is very amusing. The other play on the program, while it is also a comedy, is of an en- tirely different type. It shows how the people from other countries come to America and work, sometimes get- ting the best of the Americans. There are three in the cast of this piece: Mr. and Mrs. Espanhyme and the | Swedish maid, Hilda. The play is very cleverly written and is bound to hold the interest of the audience un- til the end. “The Copper Pot” calls for some pleasing lighting effects, which add very much to the story. An Arabian dance is also introduced into the play, adding a touch of color. * Tickets for the production have been placed on sale and can be pur- chased from any member of the club. It is expected that rehearsals will be held every evening next week under the direction of Mrs, A. C. Guilford, the club supervisor. ) Fresh eggs, 59¢.
