The excursion is being held under the auspices of the New York State Waterways Conference committee, which issued a thousand invitations. The party is due in Buffalo Saturday. John A. Dunlop, chairman of the committee, in announcing plans for the trip said that the object was to ac- quaint business men and, legislators with ‘the possibilities ~of water trans- portation within the state. He declar- ed that the barge cana! and Hudson river are the natural outiets for sea- bound shipments from the#Middle West. Opposition to participation of the United States in building the proposed St. Lawrence ship canal was voiced-by Mr. Dunlop, He pointed.out that 30 per cent of the federal (a}l,! are paid by New York state and saidwthe com- mittee objected to the use of any of this money for the construction of a water- way, the greater part of which would be on Canadian territory. The excursionists expect to stops at Albany, Utica, Syfacuse, Rochester and Buffalo, where recep- tions have been arranged by local civic and trade organizations. Most of the trip will be made by water but certain portions will be covered by automobile. make BOTH SIDES SEEM" MUCH DISPLEASED Neither Connecticut Company Nor Em- ployes Are Satisfled With' Arbi- tration Wage.
