The Junior high school in Berlin haé started on its second year and from all accounts will have as successtul a term as it had last year. Literary societies and all worthy school activities will be fostered under the close supervision of the teachers this year. This will meet in an ade- a manner the growing desire of the children to be doing the things in which they will take part in later years. FIRST P. The time may con.e in years when party rallies and stump speakers will be on the streets of Plainville but it is feared that this is some ways off. ou will eventually bring this manner of fighting for town offices in Plainville, but at present, they arc atisfied with, “Who's who" in the (own and let it go at that. There need be no fear of a “master nd” among either parties and there are no direct controlling hands. Can- didates for either of the town offices were far and few between and “Satis- faction” seems to be the watchword or both parties. Postmaster Examinations, Today is the day set for examin: tions of a new postmaster for this town. The Civil Service Commission at Washington is probably now in re- ceipt of the applications from the local men desiring the position. It is not known definitely, however, when the notification will be received of the new office holder. There have been approximately 10 men haven taken ap- pliction blanks from the office with the intentions of filling them out. They are: Postmaster Peter Prior, assistant postmaster James J. Graham,, Charle: W. Hird, Charles Conlon, James Usher, Frank O. Thompson, William L. Cafferty, Gordon. Hartson, George R. Byington and Peter N. Prior. All indications however, point to the lection of James Usher. Mr. Usher now lives in Newark, N. J., and is the son of Town Clerk Robert C. Usher. The general opinion in regards to his appointment is favcrable considering the fact that he has some powerful political men with a great deal of in- fluence behind them. However, a clause in the examina- tion paper reads to the effect that all person applying for the position, must have lived within the delivery of the postoflice for a period of two vea Mr. Usher has been a resident of New Jersey for the past year. The outcome of the e minations will be watched for by the townspeo- ple as more interest is being taken this election than the coming one of town officer 5 Marricd Yesterday Miss Laura Marchetta and John rto, of this town, were married yes- terday morning the Church of O Lady of Mercy by Rev.
