Pending announcement of the result of the conference, if w: sald at the treasury the regulations lor medical beer which have been prepared and are awaiting the signa- ‘ure of Sccretary Mellon will not be issued. TUpon disposing of the anti-beer bill, the senate immediately gave right of way to the Capper-Tincher bill pro- hibiting gambling in grain. This is sxpected to be disposed of before the end of the week. With these two | prospect of the senate declaring a re- cess of four weeks or more, unless President Harding upon this return to- day from his vacation trip in the White Mountains should request that the railroad debt funding bill pressed to a vote. The funding bill will be taken up today by the senate interstate commerce committee. The anti-beer bill as passed by the senate contained a pumber of amend- ments to the measure as received from the house. The most important in- cluded a provision to restrict opera- tions of prohibition enforcement of- ficers by prohibiting searches of pri- vate property without search warrants and imposing a penalty therefor. YACHT CROSSES OCEAN. Halifax, N. S., Aug. 9.—The 13 ton yacht Neith, which left Halifax on July 13 for Burnham-on-Crouch, England, with a crew of four under the command of Sydney C. Houghton, her owner, has arrived safely at her destination according to a cablegram received here. The yacht made the second stage of her journey from Trepassey, N.
