In solo, duet and quartet their work was equally delightful, while the singifng of the choir as a whole, from the vigorous descriptive harmony of ‘Martyrs of the Arena” to the delicate rendering of the “Blue Danube’ made an impression on the large and ap- preciative audience that will be long remembered. So insistent was the applause that they had to give no less than six en- cores. It would be difficult to single out any of these. Mr. Edwards gave “I Love a Lassie,” Mr. Charles, “Ab- sent;”” Mr. Willlams, their popular bass soloist, gave “I Love the Moon,™ by Rubens, while the duetists, Messre. Thomas and Willilams, ren- dered “DBattle Eve:” the quartet “Good Night'' and the choir offered “Gypsies' Laughing Chorus” with a rollicking abandon possible only by an organization drilled to perfection as are these Mountain Ash singers. The efficient, unobtrusive conduct- ing by their leader, T. Glyndwr Rich- ards is worthy of comment. In the intermission, Mr. Richards enter- tained the audience by anecdotes, hu- morous and otherwise, from their present American tour and also by an exposition of what he called the su- periority of the Welsh language over | English.
