Gary, chairman of the board of the United States Steel corporation, | late yesterday afternoon announced a ! reduction in steel prices ranging from | $1.50 to as much as $15 a ton for tin | plate. The announcement stated that the action of substantially reducing steel prices were taken after consulta- | tion with the presidents of the var- jous subsidiary companies, who were | called to New York yesterday to give careful consideration to the whole subject. The reduction in prices takes ef- fect immediateiy. The decreases, | however, are confined to certain products.
