South Norwalk, March 29.—Sarah Lounsbury Davenport, one of the most eccentric characters that have made this city their home, died this morning at the age of 64 years. A sister of Hon. Daniel Davenport of Washington, D. C., the Hon. Benjamin Davenport of Minneapolis, Minn., and Attorney Timothy Davenport of New York City, Miss Davenport had more than a smat- tering of law, and the many lawsuits in which she became invélved with her neighbors at her home in Wilton showed that she had inherited her legal ability. Once a wealthy woman, and an ex- tensive traveler in Europe, Miss Daven- port’s fortune vanished, being swal- lowed up by her constant litigation. About two years ago Miss Davenport made her residemce in the horse sheds at the rear of St. Marks church, Wil- ton, and called her home ‘‘the chateau Cheval.”” She was reduced to living here following her eviction from her residence, when a New York bank fore- closed. Officers who weht to evict Miss Davenport were met by her with a re- volver and she ordered them off her place. When they refused to go she fired at them, and it was not until under cover of a flag of truce that she was evicted. Her many eccentricities made her well known in Fairfield county, nearly every lawyer having many tales to tell of her uncanny legal ability and of her sharp tongue and acid retorts when she believed that she was being heckled on the stand. g McCARTHY FINALLY DIES / - Had Been Kept Alive Several Days by Transfusion !‘" Blood Boston, March 29.—John F.
