Cronkhite, who @ed from a bullet wound Octo- ber 26, 1918, at Camp Lewis, Wash- ington. The arrest was made by Bill- ups Harris: special agent of the de- partment of justice in charge of the Washington district, and Agents =, Hoeckley and Ralph Navarro of the New York district. Pothier, then & sergeant in the Thirteenth division, stationed at Camp Lewls, but last week Pothler was arrested in Provi- dence, R. 1., In connection with the killing. Arraigned before S. A. C. Matteson, United States commission- er at Providence, Pothler admitted shooting MaJjor Cronkhite, pleaded gullty to involuntary manslaughter and was held in $10,000 bail for the federal grand jury in Tacoma. He declared that his pistol had been acci- dentally discharged while he was cleaning it in the presence of Major Cronkhite. In spite of the arrest and admis- slons of Pothier and the statements of the witnesses at the army Inquiny, Rosenbluth was arrested’ last night, the murder warrant being based on an affidavit by Agent Harris. Rosen- bluth was one of the witnesses at the inquiry hpld by the authorities ot Camp Lewis, and like the others tes- tifled that Major Cronkhite had shot himself accidentally. At police head- quarters last night he was questioned for several hours by Agent Harris and by Superintendent of the New York district of the department of justice.
