To Give Up Postmaster Willlam Fagan of the Kensington Dpostofice stated this morning that after the Arst of the| month he would give up the agency | of the Western Union company. As the ‘Western Union was under the control of the government during the war, Mr. Fagan was obliged to take it, but/ | now that #t is under private ovnor-' ship again he does not feel as though he can any longer carry the agency for it in Kensington. No arrangements | heve as yet been made for anyone else to take over the work. At the Berlin postoffice, Postmaster Barrett has the agency for that dis- trict. The New BEritain office pays his telephone expenses. About Trolley System Now that the war s over, many of the local residents and passengery on the Berlin trolley car of the Con- necticut company would iike to know if the company ever intends replacing a fow more white signs along its roadbed. As a war measure, the white circles were removed from many of ! the poles. The so-caulled "wkip-stop™ method was employed. It was and still is mecessary for some people to walk* at least an eighth of a mile from their home, although it is on the trolley, line, to reach a white pole. As an example, a passenger réferred the interviewer to the long ride be- tween the pole at the Lincoin bridge on Farmington road to the next one which is fuly an eighth of a mile away, at the beginning of the old fair grounds. The next white polé s at the other extreme end of the fair grounds. Between the latter two poles is a blacksmith shop in front of which is a pole painted greén but was ormeriy white. A conductor cited an incident wheeras yesterday he had 8 different people who wanted to get off in front of the above named shop, He cbuldn't let them off inasmuch as there was no white post. Many of the pasengers, as well as | the trolley crews, hope that when tha New Britain office lays new ralls in Berlin a bit of White paint will be used on some of the poles.
