The plan is regarded as lacking in political and economic wisdom, as not susceptibie of fulfillment and that if any attempt Is made to carry it out the world will be in danger of a recurrence of war during the next forty-two years. So far as the United States is af- fected, it is held that a scheme has been arranged by which the people of America are to be called upon to aid in paying the allled war debt, For the first time in the series of developments growing out of the Ver- sallles treaty the Administration and Congress appear to be in sympathy Senate Forelgn Relations Committee members, speaking for both reserva- tionist and irreconcible groups on the treaty, said the agreement fur- nished proof of the wisdom of thc Senate In refusing to ratify the Ver- sallles treaty. Had it been ratified. they said, the United States would have had no more voice in the settle- ment than it has now and would have been placed in the situation of pulling Europe’'s chestnuts out of the fire. View of Scnate Leaders The attitude of the Senate leaders is that the United States has a deep in- terest in the matter of German repar- ations because of its bearings in Ger- man markets for our goods and be- cause of the huge allied debt to the United States. They believe that the American remedy lies in the ar- -rangements it may make in a separate peace treaty and that the allied debt can be used As a leverage tc make the proper arrangements. The allied governments will find difficulty in floating loans here upon the certificates of German indebted- ness. This view is based on the as- sumption that American bankers will not accept fictitious values as actual security. ) The administration’s official view- Washington, Horlick’s « ORIGINAL Malted Milk and | physic for the little ' Don’t suffer any longer. Teutons Do Not Belicve That Repara- tions Terms Can Be Carried Out. Berlin, Feb. 1.—Germans rcgard the reparation terms decided upon by the supreme Allied council in Paris last week as fantastic and impossible of execution, and it is the general opinion the government cannot agree to them. The cabinet, which received the text of the Allied note yesterday was in executive session until late last night. ““Madness” is the term leaders of the Reichstag used in discussing the reparation conditions. Foreign Min- ister Simons declared the execution of the terms ““would produce chaos” not only in Germany but throusn Central Europe as the bankruptey of Germany would also bankrupt part of Germany’s war creditors, among whom is France.” GET $1,000,000 GIFT.
