A program has been prepared at the evening services at 7:30 o'clock when the Sunday school will give the annual Christmas con- cert, It will be composed of recitations and a pageant by the children. Next Wednesday afternoon, Christ- mas tree exercises for the cradle roll members will be held. The mothers have been invited to attend. He was sentenced by Judge Hinman to from 10 to 15 years im- prisonment. STANLEY MEMORIAL SERVICE! CIVICS CLUB PARTY To Be Held at Local High School Next Wednesday Evening—A\1¢ Club Has Tag Day. The Senior Civics club of the local High school will hbld a Christmas sale in the Model apartment on Wed- nesday evening, D-cember 22. All members of the club who are plan- ning to attend are asked to give their names with their packages to Miss Harvey of the Vocational building as soon as possible. A Christmas tag sale was held this morning in both buildings, before the opening of school. The tais were isold for five cents and proceeds will go to the Art club fund. A large at- tendance was reported at the meet- ing of the Spanish club this after- noon. The Young Women's Literary so- ciety held a meeting during the sixth period this afternoon. A Christmas program of music and readings were rendered. An appeal was made the High school pupils by the charity organization for old clothes and many were received. PLEADS INNOCENCE. Druggist Who Sold Alcohol Says He Did Not Know It Was Poison. New York, Dec. 16.—Samuel Saleeby, Brooklyn Jruggist charged with manslaughter, in connection with the death of Anthony Chiavkovich of Hartford, Conn., as a result of drink- ing a wood alcohol mixture, did not know that the liquor was poisonous according to testimony at his trial here today. Morris Sweetwood testified that he attended various meetings in Brooklyn a year ago at which plans for manu- facturing and distributing the alleged ‘wood alcohol beverage were discussed. He said that John Romanelli, Brook- Iyn und¢rtaker now serving a sentence | in connection with the case, in his | presence told Saleeby that the liquor was distilled byRomanelli and con- tained grain alcohol.
