French Find the American Nation More Generous Than Amerfean Bankers, Our Well Known Paris, Nov. 4.—The French press. commenting on the $100,000,000 loan which has just been made by a syn- dicate of American bankers to France, endeavors to reassure the general public which has been somewhat alarmed at the rate of interest. Tak- ing into account all charges and premium, they figure the interest to amount to 9.42 per cent. It is explain ed that this rate is by na means un reasonable when compared with the interest charged both to Belgium and Switzerland in the recent loans made by America. The French newspapens say the American nation, as represented by its government and congress, has shown itself to be far mofe generous than the American bankers, as no demand | has yet been made for one cemt of interest on the state loans advanced to France by the United States dur- ing the war.
