The question ot supplying ter to Kensington has come up again and Is now being widely discussed. Ken- sington and Berlin are without any walter supply. It was proposed some time axo, to Jay pipes to the limits of the City of New Hritein, and buy WAt from New Britain reason- Able rates. The project fell through, however, because the city of New Britain had not the power to sell water under its charter which pre- vided that it might establish reser- voifs to furnish water to the City of New RBritain only So if Kensington ware to get water trom New Britain. it must be done in some other manner. Two ways were preposed for getting the power to supply Kensington with New Brit- ain wator; the first was, that New nnnu\ petition the legislature _to nt express power to sell water to lunnnnrm But it seems that New Pritain does not want to take the infitiative in the matter. The more feasible plan appears to be that Ken- sington be formed Into a fire distriet. Then having the power tolay water pipes. the district could petition the legislature to grant the power to buy water from the City of New Britain There eould be no objeetion to this plgn. leveral prominent eitizens of Ken- sington have expressed themselves in tavor of this plan. J. J. Fitasim of the Berlin Savings bank said, en aterviewed today: “I think it s a Ane schema It would benefit Ken- sington greatly First Selectman Dr Griswold also gave his hearty ap- proval of such a plan, as entirely for Kensington's benefit. Property own- ars, in general, are much in faver of it. New Pritain officials alse favor this plan In faet, the matter ia now In the hands of an attorney and sur. r who are working out definite plans to earry this project into ef- feot. Indieations are that Kensington will ha a water supply withi a few vears, if the projeet of establish. InE & fire district is not adopted. There ars facilitien in Kensington for es tablishing a reservoir within the lim- ‘'of Kensington. The ponds now olled by the Mattabeeset Fishing hny. known as Hart's ponds have bes» mentioned as possible reservoirs. They are situated on hixh ground, and the water from these ponds could be éarried up to Worthington Ledxe of foree pumps. There places In Kensing of supply might be ply in Kensington is obwious. It would furnish improvements to the eommunity, conduee to the health of the town, aid the prosperity of the factories, assist the householders and prevent the spread of fires. In 1911 a private corporation of which many of the leading citizens of the town of Berlin and New Brit- ain were members, got a grant of power from the state legislature to furnish water to the town of Berlin. It is probable that the company will never function nor ebject to the exer- cise of ‘analagous power en the part of Kensington. It is hoped for the benefit of all interested that some action will be taken by the residents of Kensington to secure an adequate water supply. Robbery at Mrs. Bunee’s, The home of Mrs. George Bunce was broken into a day er twe ago be- tween the hours of 8 and 12 in the mornin There was no one at home at the time. Eighty dollars, a gold vestpocked knife, and ather smaller articles were taken. Mrs. Bunce lives on the east side of the turnpike on whieh heavy traffic passes all day. The boldness of the house-breaker is es- pecially notable for he forced open the pantry window on the side of the house which is in direct view of the road. The neighbors had noticed a strange man prowling around Mrs. Bunce's house for several days previous to the robbery and they are certain that if they saw this man again they would be able to identify him The robber evidently knew his ground well, for onee inside the house he wasted no time prowling around, but went di- rectly to the places where the val- uables were kept. He took nothing of value but that which was cash or could be readily converted into cash. Thieves Arrested in New Britain. The theft of the buggy of Norman Peck who lives in Blue Hills, a har- neas and chickens belonging to E. P.
