The fun began the Saturday preceding, when the Chamber of Commerce was the host to all dele- | gates at a luncheon. I went with the lrommnnd!np officer and his family. After the meal we took a walk around to see the place. We aiso took a ride in the so-called ‘glass- bottom boat,” purposely made to zive you a view of the beautiful colored fishes and wonderful location of cor- als. The ‘second reef' is another more beautiful location of corals. After this ridec we went to see ‘the caves' where the natives are buried. These caves are located in an almost inaccessible part of the | mountains. How they get the bodies up there is a mystery to me, for I found much dificulty in climbing it up alone. After you do get there, all you see Is a few skeletons, yet people will travel 47 miles to see it! It is foolishness but still I am glad I can say 1 saw the burial caves of the natives Monday was the grand day. A pa- rade was held at 9 o'clock that morn- ing. For the second time in my life I tried to keep step with boys who knew how to march. We had to wear white uniforms. You would not have known me if you saw me. I hate to think of wearing a full dress uni- | form. One would never take me for a priest. Elected Territorial Chaplain. The remainder of the day was spent on business duties. We stayed at the | convention until the next afternoon. Before the convention was over I was elected the territorial chaplain. Oh | yes, there was a ball that night and | that was given by the general him- | self. I would not have gone to that | affair, only it was my duty to go. Really Guy, I had a good time. In Charge of Education. I was not here a week before the commanding officer told me to come around and take @ look and. the | funny part of it, I took In everything but the look did not take to me. I teach school every day from one to four. T do not mind that one bit. I also have a class of illiterates. Oh yes, we have them in the army, and 1 have the pleasure of teaching them. I find it interesting and like it im- | mensely. What 1 do mind is the | preparation for these classes. I must say it takes a great deal of time, still 1 do not care. I am never too busy to do anything to prepare lessons for my boys. I am glad I have this duty in one sense of the word, for I am learning myself, since T found there was a lot of stuff I did not know. I am glad to say that I am at school every day. The celebration lasted two weeks. I went in one day to sec the parade and to see our rookies march. They did quite well. I missed the second half of the pa- rade. Those who went to make up that part must have stopped some- where to get a drink. I waited about ten minutes for them and as they did not shcv up I left them. It was some cele fon!
