McGoorty was so badly punished that the referee stopped the fight. Goddard, who once knocked out Beckett and gained the heavyweight championship of England, was in turn defeated by Beckett. Goddard now is engaged in a campaign to re- gain the title, and his victory over McGoorty should help him to obtain another match with Beckett.
