New York, March 4.—Mrs. Rosa F. Spang, widow of a millionaire Pitts- burgh steel manufacturer, was of un- sound mind when she signed her will leaving the bulk of her $2,000,000 es- tate to charity and giving her only child, Mrs. Mabel Spang Ancker of Copenhagen, Denmark, an annuity of but $10,000, according to a verdict rendered by a jury in surrogate’s court early toda; The verdict ren- ders the will void. The jury deliberat- ed more than 12 hours. Mrs. Spang died at the Waldorf- Astoria hotel here June 22, 1919, within 48 hours after the will was signed. After providing an annuity for her daughter, she left the greater part of the estate to establish the Rasa F. Spang foundation for young children on her estate at Peekskill. Mrs. Ancker brought suit to break the will, contending that her mother was of unsound mind when the will was drawn up and signed. CATHOLIC WOMEN MEET IN WASHINGTON TO CONSOLIDATE Washington, March 4.—Catholic women, representing 9,000 Catholic societies began a conference here to- day looking to the formation of a national Catholic women’s council with headquarters in Washington.
