TO THE PUBLIC Following the death of Mrs. Joseph Lops on January 3, a false and damaging report was put in circulation, it being rumored that whiskey purchased from us for medicinal purposes on a prescription issued by a New Britain physician and given to the woman was not pure and was in some way responsible for the fatal result of her illness. Circulation of the story pending a report on the analysis of the liquor might have been harmful to our reputa- tion as reliable druggists. During the years we have been in business in New Britain we have worked hard to build up a reputation for reliability and our large patronage testifies to the success we have achieved. We are jealous of that reputation and we want to preserve it at all costs. Consequently, we feel that the public in general, always reposing confidence in us, is entitled to the information contained in the report of State Chemist Bailey of New Haven, and sent to Chief Rawlings, which shows the liquor sold to the Lops family on the physician’s order to have been pure, proving that the woman died from natural causes. IT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF: Mr. W. J. Rawlings, New Britain, Conn. Dear Sir:- Supplementing my telephone report to you yesterday regarding sample of whiskey sub- mitted by &ou on the 3rd inst, our No. 14,286, I would say the same contains 41.36 per cent. alcohol by volume, and find no wood alcohol. We have also examined the sample for poison- ous alkoloids and heavy metals and find none of either. Our tests disclose nothing abnormal gbout the whiskey. Vo v : ery truly yours, " E. M. BAILEY. "We are proud of the standard maintained by our store. We are grateful to the people of New Britain for their patronage and in justice to them we make the above announcement.
