The first six grades are known as the primary depurtments of the school; the second three are the Intermediate High school; the third section, to con- sist of three grades, will take tho place of the present High school four vear course, To Buy 18 Acres. Chairman B. ‘F. Gaffney informed th>'board that the finance committee had decided to purchase the entire Carmody tract of 18 acres. While but five or six acres are needed for the im- mediate school purposes the remain- ing stretch of land can be used for a much . needed -northw ground. Joseph M. Hallora as'to the method to be used in pay for the land, and asked why the park commission or some other such com- mittee should not be asked to buy the land, thereby holding down the bonded indebtedness of the school committee. It was explained that thé price was an advantageous one, and as it was much easier for the schoal board to make the purchase that method was thought best. Greeks Want Class Room. | The board encountered an unusual problem in the form of a request from George Allard, vice president of the Greek scheol association, who request- ed that his association be given tho use of a school room in one of the s schools from 4 to 6 daily so that ss of 30 might be taught the ireek language.
