ON Sunday afternoons our folks drove out to Stanley Quarter or Kensington. These were trips to the country. Plainville, Farmington, Bris- tol or Hartford were journeys of great importance. If we lived on High or Cedar streets, we lived uptown. Wal- nut Hill Park of today was then a great pasture. West Main after you passed Cedar was just a path or country lane. N the old days only the far-secing few thought of the present Post Office, Fox's Theater and all of the handsome buildings and private residences now built on West Main street, its tribu- tary streets and around Walnut Hill ~Park E have seen the factories of New Britain rise north, south and east, and we have watched and, perhaps, helped the growth of the western resi- dential section.
