Indianapolis, Oct. 16 Plans for a strike of bituminous coal miners of the country on November 1 were con- tinued today at international head- quarters of the United Mine Workers of America here, the officials proceed- ing on the assumption that nothing would come of the conference in ‘Washington called by Secretary of Tabor Wilson in an effort to avert the threatened walkout. The official strike call, issued hHv Acting-President John L. Lewis, w: sent out yesterday afternoon to the more than 4,000 local unions, and plans for making the strike off are taking form at headquarters. Mr. Lewis left late yesterday for ‘Washington in responso to the reque of Secretary Wilson for a conferenco. Mr. Wilson announced last night that Thomas T. Brewstor, president of the CBal Operators’ association, would represent the employers at the ference. Mine workers’ officials here ad- mitted that should negotintions be re- sumed with possibility of final agree- ment, it was likely that the strike would be called off pending the fina! putcome, ecven if the doliberations egtended beyond November 1 tive BAN ON HUNTING.
