MINERS DISAPPOINTED 250,000 Workers in Yorkshire, Eng- land, Find That They Have to Work Harder to Get Mines in Shape. Leeds, Fngland, Oct. 4—Some of the Yorkshire miners who went on strike in the great coal fleld there when 250,000 men quit work in July to protest against the government award for piece work, seem- hardly satisfled with the Tesult in view of tho fact that two months will be required to restore some of the mines to op- eration. The Yorkshire Post quotes one of the miners as saying: “Fancy grown-up men like us quar- reling about the price of a packet of clgarettes more or less a week. It's enough to make a cat laugh or a man cry, if he has children to feed. Prin- ciple is all right when it doesn’t mean loss Ot pay. I wish our leaders felt it the same way, but their wages go on all the same with extras for at- tending all meetings. ‘Fine words butter no parsnips,” and we can't fill our youngsters' stomachs with prin- ciple.” T R e A CROWDS At New Britain’s Busiest Pure Food Market Where You Double the Value of Your Dollar ATURDAY ‘While They Last S Extra Special Morning § Sale 9 A.
