OWN YOUR HOME, Following upon the heels of last €vening's editoriul wherein we en- deavored to show that the house- Holder in New Britain must hold on o his home, despite the fact that a Seemingly high price is being offered for it, we would aga’n discourse upen the need for building in the city as & remedy for the exceedingly high cost of rents and the lack of them at any price. It must be apparent to all that the selling of one’s home will mean that the householder is out o a rent and must find one, with the result that he will be spending move than the income from the sale of his property in renting a mew place. The disposal of his place may have netted him a big profit He will find that (he is paying more than the inter: on the whole sum, profit and all, andi reducing the original amount by a certain sum each year in getting place to live in. Pooi business, isn’t it? The only thing that would make it reasonable for a person to acquire a certain sum of money, partly profit, for his home and then go out and spend it in rent would be the possi- bility that property would decrease in 'price before all of the profit from the sale had been eaten up in rents. Then Providing that payments can be male on the mortgages, the cost of main- tenance may be reduced. The future profit in increased valuation is not estimated, though it will be appre- ciable should the owner wish to sell. New Britain should have an or- ganization of moneyed men, beyond the banks, if necessary, which woull be willing to advance to the man who wishes to build the necessary amount. In all probability it will have, eventu- ally. The need for homes is heie an:l all who can should hasten to remedy our condition. MASSACHUSETT! AND SUNDAY SPORTS. Newv England still has a set of laws, [ known as the “Blue Laws which have net been repealed and which discourage practically everything that one is liable to do on a Sunday, ex- cept attending church. We are told by authosities on thes rules that it is illegal to kiss yvour wife on Sunday ‘As for riding in vehicles of any description or even cooking upon the Sabbath, there is no hope for those who do such ungodly things. President Wilson has delivered the Defensive pact for France, made in conjunction with Great Britain to the enate at last. Of course it was pub- lished in the newspapers July #rd and ith.
