Paonessa, Prop. $25,000 IN DRIVE Daly Council Will File Articles of In- corporation This Week and Begin Work at Once. Articles of incorporation will be filed this week by the Knights af Co- lumbus of New Britain, Inc., and work Wwill be started at once to raise the amount of money necessary to secure a site for the new building, soon to be erected. A meeting of the building committee was held in the council rooms last night and preliminary plans were cussed. The plan as adopted by the commit- tee for the raising of funds is one of voluntary subscription and each of the members will be asked to make a con- tribution for the fund. Grand Knight John O'Brien expects in this way to raise between $25,000 and $30,000 to start the work and with donations ex- pected from outside sources and in other drives later to be conducted, it is expected that an amount sufficigat to defray all the expenses of the new building will be raised. As vet no plans have been submit- ted and no options have been secured on properties although several pieces of land have been offered and are considered desirable sites. The com- mittee of 15, known as the building committee, will be in charge of the drive At the next meeting the election of a board of directors for the corpora- tion will be discussed. The board will be elected at the society meeting and from among the directors chosen of- ficers will be elected. Waterbury, Jul —A trolley car striking the rear end of a circus wagon crossing the tracks was the cause of much excitement during a circus parade here yesterday. The driver of the wagon and a boy on its top were both thrown to the street but neither seriously hurt. The team of four horses ran away and were stopped by a cellision with two auto- mobiles which stood at the curb. Two of the ho were badly cut and both automobiles badly smashed. The pa- rade wagon carried an open cage of lions and when the crowds saw the horses attached running away there was a general rush for places of safety. The wagon did not ovtrturn, however, nor was it damaged. GOVERNOR IS BETTER Returns to Home in Southington After t Being Il for Two Days at Home of Phygician. New York, July 25—Announcement of the settlement of the marine workers' strike was expected to be made today. Raymond B. Stevens, vice-chairman of the United States Shipping Board who came here Mon- day has since had conferences with representatives of the seamen and the operators and intimated that virtually the only thing necessary to complete a compromise is the signatures. The terms of compromise could not be learned but as both the steamship men and the strikers have said they would accept the preferential for American seamen first and union men second, it is assumed some sort of satisfactory working arrangement has been made and that neither side are put in the position of abandoning | their fight. Striking seamen have agreed to ! provide volunteer crews for the fleet { of cattle boats by which the shipping board is taking 4,600 milch cows to the French government.
