{NA PROTESTING ITALY'S ART CLAIMS Press States Gallries Are Being Robhed by Italian Mission May 13, (Correspondence ociated Press.)—The Vienna making violent protests against the Italian claims for works declaring that the Italians are introducing old Napoleonic methods of | frobbing leric Professor Paolo d° Ancona of Milan, Wwho is at the head of the Italian art f mission, told the correspondent of the Associated Press that the whole mat- ter had been laid before the peace con- ference for decision and that the Ital- fians so far are only placing the works of under sequestration, so that they may he protected in case of Bol- shevik mpts to destroy, steal or resell them s happened with the Her- mitage Gallery, at Petrograd. The Italians feared this might be the fato of the Budapest Gallery containing such priceless works as Raphael's Ma- P donna. Professor Ancona stated that the Ttalian claims fall under three heads: First, indemnities for art works, ued at $10,000,000 destroyed by the Austrians in Ttaly during the war, in- cluding the air raids at Venice, An- cona, Padua, Ravenna and other points; second, works which have been stolen from Ttaly in the past; third, works which logically belong to territory now occupied by TItaly or about to become her property, includ- ing Pola, Lissa Island and Fiume. There are also provisional claims for Ttaly’s share which belong to her historically in case the museums of Vienna and Budapest should be divid- ed among the nations of the former empire, the Czechs havir already submitted a similar claim, Professor d° Ancona said that among the works of art restitution of which is demanded by Italy are eight- een paintings, of which only one is not Ialian, the exception being the larger of two portraits of Rembrandt. These eighteen works have been valued at about $5,000,000. Other notable works claimed are Raphael's “Madonna del Prato;” “Jupiter and To,” hy Correg five other Correggios of the twen- v that are in the Austrian Tmperial Museum; Titlan's “Madonna Delle Ci- leege”; Moretti’'s “San Gustina': and two Tintorettis, one being ‘‘Susanna and the Elde Among second-class works alleged to have been stolen from Italy and in- cluded in the Hof Museum collection is the famous Florentine Diamond which Italians claim as part of the treasures of Tuscany carried off by Prince Anna Maria of Medici, con- trary to agreement when nearly two centuries ago she renounced the Tus- can throne in order to become Em- press of Austria. There is also a col- lection of Venetian arms and manu- scripts and Italian war trophies which the Italians claim have been stolen at various times but which Austria has always refused to restore. Regarding the 150 paintings which the Italians took in February, it is stated that the Austrians have admit- ed the justice of Italy’s claims to them as these works were alleged to have been stolen by Austria aftr the down- fall of Napoleon. Jump from Bed in Morning and Drink Hot Water Tells why everyone should drink hot water each morning before breakfast. " Why is man and@ woman, half the time, feeling nervous. despondent, worried; some days headachy, dull and unstrung; some days really inca- pacitated by illne It we all would practice inside- bathing, what a gratifying change would takc place. Instead of thou- sands of half-sick, anaemic-looking souls with pasty, muddy complex- fons we should see crowds of happy, healthy, rosy-cheeked people every- where. The reason is that the human system does not rid itself each day of all the waste which it accummu- | lates under our present mode of liv- | ing. For every ounce of food and | drink taken inlo the system nearly an ounce of waste material must be car- ried out, else it ferments and forms ptomaine-like poisons which are ab- sorbed into the blood. Just as necessary as it is to clean the ashes from the furnace each day, before the fre will burn bright and hot, so we must each morning clear the inside organs of the previous day’s | mulation indigestible waste body toxins. Men and women hether sick or well, are advised to drink each morning, befor break- fast, a glass of real hot water with a teaspoonful of limestone phosphate in it, as a harmless means of washing out of the stomach, liver, kidneys and bowels the indigestible material, waste, sour bile and toxins: thus cleansing, sweelening and purifying the entire alimentary canal before | putting more food into the stomach Millions of people who had their turn at constipation, bilious attacks, acid stomack, nervous days and sleep- less nights have become real cranks about the morninz inside-bath. A quarter pound of limestone phosphate will not cosi much at the drug store, but is sufficient to demonstrate to anyone, 1ts cleansing, sweetening and frashenir effect upon the system A, PINKUS | EYESIGHT SPECIALIST tisfaction Guaranteed NEW BRITAIN DA!LY HERALD, FRIDAY.
