NEW BRITAIN DAILY HERALD, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1918 New Britain Gas Light Company New Britain, Conn., December 17, 1918 To Our Customers: : Owing to a bad fire in the purifying room at our works we have to request the pubfic to use gas sparingly for two or three days We appreciate that with a number of customers the use of gas is absolutely necessary for heat, cooking and light and it is our desire to inconvenience them as little as possible. However, it will be necessary to fur- ~ nish gas that has an excess of sulphur until repairs are completed. This unpurlfled gas is not harmful to health but will cause a disagreeable odor which can be overcome by careful ventilation. We wish to assure our customers that we are making strenuous efforts to shorten the time during which they will be inconvenienced and will work day and night to repair the damage done by the fire. We will keep the public informed as to what progress we are making and notify them when our repairs are completed. We appeal to the public on this matter for patience and consideration as it was a question whether to furnish gas with excess sulphur or to shut off the supply entirely. Later it may be necessary to shut off the supply of gas for one or two evenings. NEW BRITAIN GAS LIGHT COMPANY H. T. SLOPER, Mgr.
