Several days ago the government issued a call for 30 gunsmiths who were asked to volunteer for this serv- ice. Today the second district board received a supplementary notice ad- vising them that the necess quota had not been filled by volunteers and this city is expected to furnish one man. The board has been instructed to investigate the questionnaires of the registrants and make an effort to find a gunsmith who may be avail- able for service. The second district board has a number of gunsmiths on its registry but most of them are employed by the Colt's Fire Arms Co., in Hartford, and have an industrial exemption from military service. OATLING THE DOCKET. 400 Cases Called at Afternoon Session of the City Court. The annual calling of the docket in the ecity court took place this afternoon. Judge James T. Meskill presided. There was a full atten- dance of the lawyers of the city. Abut 400 cases werer called. The great mapority of the cases, probably 300 in all, have been disposed of but were still being carried on the rec- ords. The cases have accumulated since the establishment of the court. Only those ‘cases up to April 1, were called. About 100 cases were con- tinued on the docket as cause for so doing was shown. SHEA—CLAUGHSEY.
