The Scout events will start promptly at 1:30. Com- miesioner Pelton and Deputy Com- missioner Fiske of Berlin will serve 23 judges and Deputy Commissioner Hickey will act as starter. All Scouts are requested to bring their lunch as there will be a big camp fire in the evening, games will be played and a geod time is promised to all who at- tend. If the War Emblems are re- ceived in time they will be presented in the evening. This field day is open to the public and the Scouts are at literty to invite their friends. A new troop of Scouts is being organized at the Boys’ club under the leadership ©f Deputy Commissioner Hickey, and will be known as Troop No. 7. It -has always been a boy's privilege after the ice cream was served to scrape out the freezer. Forhaps the treasury department and the National Council of the Boy Sicouts of America had this in mind when they kept the scouts out of the Liberty Loan campaign until the last week. The Scouts astonished the nation by scooping out more cream than anybody thought there was in the freezer. The American people have discovered the boy. They used to discuss him apologetically or in a kumorous vein. They did not know that he could organize and systeme- tize and nationalize and do big things i) a big way. Even dad didn’t know what was in the boy until he came out in khaki, started a garden in the btackyard and sold Liberty bonds all over town. Troop 2—At the meeting of Troop 2 Tuesday evening the Scouts held a Jazz band rehearsal. Our new Scout- master, Lieut, Williams, of Co. M, was present and gave us helpful ad- vice on our vaudeville production. The troop plans to give the enter- tailnment to raise money for the treasury. Last Saturday the went on a hike to their cabin on Pin- nacle Mountain, where the Scouts worked the greater part of the day and succeeded in very nearly complet- ing the ¢abin. The 'thatching and the hinges on the door are now the only things that are missing. The fellows are planning a hike for Thanksgiving Day. Troop 14—Troop 14 held its regu- lar meeting Wednesday evening in the Town hall with Assistant Scoutmaster Lacky in charge. The Beaver Patrol was awarded a 100 per cent. duty but- ton. We now have only three patrols, Clement Coles is the first member of Troop 14 to.reach the rank of a first class Scout. The members of the Eagle Patrol were very succ sselufiwt Eagle Patrol were very successful with their Larkin order and enlarged their bank account to $17.22.
