The race was spoiled by rough riding. Jockey Rowan on Milkman was to blame. The stewards suspended him for flve days, holding him responsible for the defeat of Highland Lad and King Neptune, which were nearly knock'ed down on the first turn when Rowan cut over from the outside. Milkman held an easy lead to the stretch, but stopped badly when Gold Tassel challenged from third place. The two-year-old filly showed plenty of sveed and fairly raced away from her opponents in the last quarter. The Hyde Park resulted in an easy victory for Startling, which showed plenty of early foot and won in hand after hanging up a new track record of 1:19 3-5 for the six and a half fur- long course. The Breeding Bureau of New York, which is under supervision of The Jockey club, in order to foster the breeding of good horses for the New York State mounted police, will es- tablish six stations for stallions.
