A quiet wedding took place at the Stanley Memorial church parsonage this noon when Miss Edith Wunsch daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wunsch of Sunrise avenue, was mar- ried to Otto Schraeger of Bristol. The ceremony was performed by Rev. James E. Rees and the couple were attended by Mrs. Charles Landgren, sister of the bride, and Adolph Schraeger, brother of the groom. Af- ter a quiet reception at the home the couple left on an extended trip. by auto to the Mohaw Trail and vicinity and on their return will reside in Bristol where the groom is proprietor of a large agricultural concern S SUGAR, Food Administration Advises That is Only Way to Stop Shortage. Washington, Oct. 17.—The food ad- ministration today appeals to the American people to reduce the con- sumption of sugar in order to mitigate the effects of the shortage, which threatens to extend over the eastern states. No relief is in sight before late in November, when the Ha- waiian and western beet crops reach the market. Since retailers have received their stocks at prices recently agreed upon there is no reason, it is said, for a price advance during the temporary scarcity. CONVENTION TO CLOSE. Suffield, Conn., Oct. 17.—The clos- ing meetings of the annual state Bap- tist conventions were held today with morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session was given over to consideration of reports and an ad- dress by Rev. Dr. Peter C. Wright of Hartford on “the minister's and the missionary’s benefit fund.” More business and addresses were on the program for the afternoon. New York, Oct. 17.—The Southern commercial congress closes its ninth annual convention here today with 7 sectional meetings, a reception at Columbia university and a luncheon in honor of W. P. C.
