Blocksom has been assigned to command of the Brownsville district of the southern department by General James Parker, department commander. General Blocksom will succeed Gen- eral Charles G. Morton, recently as- signed to command at Syracuse, N. Y. Brig. General Samuel D. Sturgis has been assigned by General Parker as commander of the troops at Camp Funston.
