There are good reasons why the regular army should be filled first and at once. The reg- ular army and the navy form the first line of defense on land and water and it needs no argument to prove that these branches should have the im- mediate and energetic attention of the public. The national guard needs men, of course, but it is important, that the first line of defense be re- cruited to full strength at once. The war department desires it and it is for, the country’s best interest. The regular army’ offers the man, who has determined ‘to do his duty, by enlisting without waiting for the draft, the greatest advantage of going into war or into camp along side vet- erans, who have a perfect knowledge of their business ‘and -under the best trained officers in the world—edu- cated men who have made the study of military tactics their life’s work and who have no superiors in any army. By joining the regular army one will be atonce in the hands of professionals ‘who can and will give the best possible training, the best equipment and the best supsrvision of health. Efficlency is the standard of the regular army and & man, who passes the physical test, will surely receive training that will fit him for. all time. You, who have registered, many of you know that you are going to put 2 gun on your shoulder and defend your country like a man.
