Dame received fritten_orders from Clerk A. E. Mag- 00 LATE I'OR CLASSIFICATION, PST—Collie pup, white and black fon face, white tip on tail Reward returned to 107 Columbia St. Answers to name of Spitz. Tel. 74-4. 1-12-3d in} recreation | imell of the safety board yesterday di- 1ecling the change and announcing that the pair of horses should be added 1o the roster at headquarters. He at once began pianring for the changes but has not fu'ly worked out the iniricate problem yet. He expects that the changes necessary, putting | the stalls in order, re-arranging the i apparatus and Luying additional beds | witl be completed by tomorrow. Com- missioner Morsr, originator of the plan for increased efficiency, and Com- | missioner Steele, enthusiastic sup- | jiorter of the plan, have not called at Teadauarters to look the fleld over or lact as advisers to Chief Dame. Neither have they been consulted since | Commigsioner Moran announced his attitude in “that’s up to vou chiet” when asked relative to how to House | the additional apparutus. | With the transfer of the harses, | there has been an investigation rela- !tive to proposed changes in the | building construction and increasing !the heighth of the huilaing given over | to stables by three or four feet. The ! space over the stables will have to be lused for a hay loft. By making changes in constriction, department ofticials believe additional space can be utilized for needed sleeping quar- ters. Rumeors at headquarters and in fire depurtment circles are to the effect that the changes may be the forerunner of an attempt to take over the entire building for fire depart- ment headquarters and get the old Burritt school property, or other cen- trally lccated property for a new police headquarters. Something will have to Le done, fire department offi- cials believe, to not only relieve pres- ent overcrowded conditions but provide for further growth. The ad- dition of more men and apparatus will tend to crysialize attention to the present conditions there and cause agitation f.r increased facilities. Gustave Carlson of 59 Main street came shivering to police headquar- ters last night with a complaint that his nice warm overcoat had been taken by Gunner Anderson. Gustave did not want any officlal action against Gunner but 'did want his coat | back as he feared dire results, should he have to go about Ilightly clad much longer. Hes was advised to confer.
