M. C. A: lats evening .by Secretary H. An- drews of the Chamber of Commerce. The work along these lines as dwelt upon by the chamber was clearly out- Hmned by the speaker, but as yet noj solution of eliminating the dangers that lurk at these crossings has been reached. Secretary Andrews spoke of the tendency of people to find fault about conditions in a city, whereas they offer no stance in securing beneficial resul The local chamber has a member- | ship of between 500 and 600, but the ayorking force is entirely inadequate to right conditions, the speaker raid. The spirit is one of the essential things and without it the solution is being undertaken is ssible. Secretary Andrews said that most people unaware of the work that the chamber is undertaking, because they are not acquainted with the finside workings, He cited as an 4nstance the waiting station proposi- tlon at the trolley car terminal, when, prior to the appointment of a commit- tee to investigate the matter, every one had an idea, but when they were heard they proved to be impracticable. An. invitation was extended by the speaker to the members of the class to call at the office of the chamber “et any time that they felt that the had an idea which would prove bene- ficlal to the city. The ideas of the young men are what are needed and the Chamber of Commerce will be only too glad to co-operate with them in securing what they think is for the welfare of the city. (. At the close of the talk, Physical Director' W. S. Slater, who presided as toastmaster, thanked the speaker. A banquet was held prior to the talk. W. 0. W. OFFICERS.
