LOCKWOOD, Real Estate and Insurance, ‘fel. 1030. 596 Arch Street | EATS HUMAN FLESH TO CURE LEPROSY Leper Acts on Korean Superstition, Later Confessing to Murder of 5-Year-Old Boy. (Correspandence of the Asso. Press). Seoul, Korea, Oct. 29.—Justifying Korean superstition that ihe ing of human ffesh is a cure for leprosy, a Korean lever Stn Yungsyun has confessed to the mur his act by named der of a five-year-old boy whose mu- tilated body was discoveed in a field in South Cholla province. According to the police the accused also admit ted that with another leper he killed a girl in the mountains on September 15, and that both had eaten of her flesh. T.epers in Korea hitherto led a mis- crable life. With the exception of those cared for by missionaries in a small hospital near Fulsan, they have been left to roam at will and eke out their own living. The superstition as to cannibal cure is very general. Not infrequently cannibalism has been re- ported from the remoie districts. Count Terauchi, until recently gov- ernor-general, took up the leper prob- lem vigorously last vear and as a re- sult an island called Sorok off the southern coast of Korea has been se- Jected as the seat of a leper asylum. It is proposed to take in at first some hundred lepers selected from the thir- ieen provinces in proportion to the be the island the lepers will taught modern farming. — To the Board of County Commission- ers for Hartford County: I hereby apply for a transfer my license to sell spirituous and toxicating liquors, ale, lager Rhine wine and cider at building to White's building, Town of Berlin.
