J. was New York, Nov. 8.—Edgar Schieffelin, a cousin of William Schieffelin, the philanthropist, found dead with a bullet in his brain at the Hotel Em- Mr. Shiette- his fiftieth Monday, lived alone. Near the body was two pistols, some gun oil, ramrods, and rags for cleaning. A brother, George Schieffelin, and two sisters, who hur- ried to the apartment from the Hotel in his apartment pire i 1in, birthday terday morning. who had celebrated anniversary on Ansonia, and all of whom refused to talk for publication, insisted to the police and Coroner Healy that the shooting was accidental, but Coroner, after an examination, clared the case a suicide. de- Mr. Schieffelin had been connected with the prominent drug filrm of that name, but during the last five years he had lived at the Empire and had not been active in business, it was said. He was an expert shot and lov- er of firearms of which he made a collection.
